  • Tile, LVP and heated floors

Bathrooms: our work

Full bathroom gut and remodel: subway tile, black fixtures, new vanity1 / 8

What moves the price

  • Tub-to-shower conversion versus keeping the footprint
  • Tile versus a solid-surface shower system
  • Moving the toilet, vanity or drain
  • Heated floors, niches, benches and glass
  • Ventilation and lighting upgrades

We quote in writing after a free walkthrough. No published prices: every job is different and a number without a walkthrough is a guess.

Materials and options

  • Porcelain and ceramic tile, large-format and mosaic
  • Curbless and low-curb shower pans
  • Frameless and semi-frameless glass
  • Quartz vanity tops, floating and freestanding vanities
  • Electric radiant floor heat

Permits and inspections

Plumbing and electrical changes in a bathroom need permits and inspections; waterproofing is inspected before tile goes on. We coordinate the permits with the licensed trades and meet the inspector.

St. Charles County's incorporated cities each run their own building division; unincorporated areas go through the county. We know all of them.

Questions people ask

Straight answers, the same ones we give on the walkthrough.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost?

It depends on whether the layout changes, tile versus solid-surface walls, and extras such as heated floors and glass. We quote in writing after a free walkthrough.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A hall bath typically takes two to three weeks on site; a full primary bath, three to five.

Can you make a shower curbless?

Yes, when the floor structure allows. We confirm that on the walkthrough.

Do you do heated floors?

Yes. Electric radiant mats under tile are a common add-on.

Tub-to-shower conversion or keep the tub?

Most homes should keep at least one tub. If this is the only bath with a tub we say so; otherwise a walk-in shower is usually the better use of the space.

Can you move the toilet or vanity?

Yes. Moving drains in a basement or slab costs more than on a wood floor; we tell you the difference before you decide.

How do you waterproof the shower?

A continuous membrane system over the pan and walls, flood-tested before tile. The inspector sees it too.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. Plumbing, electrical and the waterproofing inspection are scheduled by us.

Sean and John came in and turned my abysmal bathroom into something amazing. Great service, professional, timely and excellent at communicating. They will be back to do many other projects for me.

My husband and I were looking for someone to remodel our bathroom, and because I had more time, I met with a few companies to get a quote. We ultimately chose SC2 Contracting because Sean was friendly, had great communication, talked to me without being condescending (something I ran into with others!), straightforward, fair in pricing and made me feel comfortable having him do the work. We are so glad we went with SC2! Sean was helpful, always quick to respond to my many questions leading up to the start of the project (as well as during!). He and Brendan did a fantastic job, we are so happy with how the bathroom turned out! I was comfortable with them being in my home, they were friendly, professional and gave me detailed updates about where they were in the process each day as they left. I was impressed with their thoughtfulness about being in someone's home - they were careful to protect our flooring, covered the vent and shut the door as they sanded to minimize the dust, and cleaned up each day before they left. Just really great guys that we will definitely be calling again for future projects. Highly recommend!

Sean, from SC2 contracting just finished building my new deck. I couldn't be more pleased! Not only did Sean do a great job, but he made the project very pleasant by always communicating when he'd be at my house, if it was okay to work on weekends, and what was happening next. He clearly is a man of high integrity, taking pride in doing a good job and working hard every day to get the job done(even in the St Louis heat we had this summer).

I will definitely be in touch with him again to do other projects for me, and have no doubt I'll get the same wonderful results!!
